A 6-year-old Connecticut boy is now brain dead after a brutal attack by his stepfather, who left the child's family pleading for help in a 911 call. "He's hitting us with a bat!" his mother screamed as chaos erupted in their home.

Jathan Escobar, 6, is on life support amid being declared brain dead.

His stepfather, Abdulrahim Sulaiman, 38, is facing multiple charges, including three counts of attempted murder, after attacking his 33-year-old wife and her two young sons, Eli, four, and Jathan, six.

On September 23, Sulaiman's wife called 911, pleading for assistance.

"Please help us," she screamed into the phone, as banging could be heard in the background, according to an incident report obtained by PEOPLE.

"He's hitting us with a bat!"

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officials transported the two boys and their mother to area hospitals.

Both boys were later airlifted by helicopter to the pediatric emergency center at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven.

Sulaiman was caught on surveillance footage jumping out of an upper window in an attempt to flee from the scene; however, he was apprehended by an officer while muttering to himself, covered in blood.

Escobar's family told NBC Connecticut that they've made the difficult decision to remove the 6-year-old off of life support in the coming days.

The four-year-old's condition is now stable, and he is expected to survive.

In a GoFundMe set up by the children's aunt, Jathan is described as a happy boy with a smile that could light up any room, a laughter that was contagious, and a heart full of love.

"In honor of the loving, joyful spirit Jathan had, my brother has made the decision to donate his organs, allowing Jathan to help others and be the hero we always knew him to be," she wrote.

Sulaiman's bond has been set at $11,050,000.
