The granddaughter of a famous Black activist that was murdered by the KKK has been reported missing for several days from her Georgia home.

The Evers family said Nicole "Niki" Evers-Everette has been missing from her apartment in Duluth since Sept. 22. The last time she spoke with family was to her mother Reena Evers-Everette around 5:55 p.m. that day.

Reena Evers-Everette said in the missing persons alert, "I am worried and terrified for my daughter, Niki. She has not reported to work this week, which is highly unusual. We talk regularly, and it is also unusual for me to not be able to reach her. She does not have her cell phone, purse or other personal effects."

She continued, "However, her car was missing from her apartment complex and last seen on Keys Ferry Road and McCart Road in McDonough, Georgia, on Monday night. I am in constant prayer that she is safe and comes back to us soon. Timing is critical because Niki has a medical condition that requires medication, which she does not have."

Evers-Everette is the granddaughter of Medgar and Myrlie Evers. Medgar Evers served as the NAACP's first field secretary in Mississippi during the civil rights movement. He was shot and killed by a member of the KKK in 1963, according to the NAACP's website.

Anyone with information on her location is asked to contact the Gwinnett County Police Department at (770) 513-5700.
