Former 90s rock band member Theo "Mylo" Lengyel allegedly asked a female friend to "help him kill someone" years before he purportedly murdered his girlfriend, she testified while revealing disturbing new details during his murder trial this week.
Lengyel, a 55-year-old ex-saxophone player for Mr. Bungle, is on trial for the death of girlfriend Alice "Alyx" Herrmann, 61, in Capitola, California.
He pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
The musician-turned-data engineer is accused of strangling Herrmann to death in December 2023, a coroner determined, according to the SFGATE.
Her remains were found in a Berkeley, California park that same month and it was "clear that foul play was involved," said police.
Taking the stand earlier this week, Aida Gray, told the court she and her husband hosted Herrmann and Lengyel for a dinner party at their Palo Alto, California home in February 2019, when the musician "suddenly asked to go look at my dresses."
Gray said she led Lengyel to her walk-in closet to show off her designer wardrobe.
Once they were alone, the suspect "out of the blue... he suddenly asked me if I can help him kill someone," she testified, according to KRON-TV. "It was a crazy question."
Santa Cruz County Assistant District Attorney Conor McCormick asked Gray if she thought Lengyel was kidding.
"No. He looked me in the eyes. He was intense," responded Gray.
The bizarre interaction forced Gray to put an abrupt end to the get-together, she said.
On Sept. 9, in the middle of Lengyel's trial, Gray sent an email to prosecutors.
"Hello, I am a friend of Alyx. I wanted to let you know that one night Mylo asked me to help with killing someone. It was 4-5 years ago. I was in shock and terminated the conversation," she allegedly wrote, according to the station.
Days later, she took the stand.
"He was planning this for a long time," Gray alleged.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive.
The trial remains ongoing.
