MPAA bans Eva Green movie poster for 'Sin City' sequel

By

Deadline reported that the Motion Picture Association of America has voiced its disapproval over the new poster for the film "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For." The poster, showing actress Eva Green, has her in a white sheer gown that provided a view of her ample bosom.

The motion picture trade group said that the film poster has been flagged for nudity, particularly the fact that the poster showed the curve of under breast and that an outline of her left breast is visible through her sheer gown.

"(The 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For' poster with Eva Green on the cover was nixed) for nudity - curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown," MPAA had reportedly said.

Entertainment Weekly said that the process was nothing new to the MPAA, who usually meet with film executives regarding all advertising materials to be used to market the film. The trade group normally offer tweaks and suggestions for film executives to make changes to any advertising materials that do not meet the MPAA guidelines. On the other hand, it has been pointed out that the advertising materials that are being reviewed by the MPAA are not banned from being published without the trade group's approval.

The Hollywood Gossip said that the MPAA is reportedly preventing the producers of the "Sin City" sequel, Dimension Films, from shipping the banned poster to movie theaters for public display. Green nor film director Robert Rodriguez has yet to comment about the poster controversy.

On the other hand, majority has voiced concerns on what appeared to be the MPAA's oversight regarding Green's poster. In the film poster, Green is shown holding a gun while posing provocatively. The trade group's oversight of the gun could mean that they have no problem with Green holding the weapon in the poster, considering the recent events of gun violence and the ongoing debate of gun control legislation in the country.
