Although America may have recently gone through a hard time, it is still a great country filled with opportunities. People from all over the world visit every year. Many of the people who come here to work or play will decide that they want to become permanent residents or American citizens. Those processes take years and are not easy for anyone.

There are a few different reasons why the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services might expedite a residency application. If a person is seeking asylum in the United States or if the company they work for needs them on a permanent basis, the USCIS will occasionally speed up their application process.

There are a number of things you can do to make your application process go a little faster.

Pay a Premium

Although America might be the land of the free and the home of the brave, it is first and foremost a capitalist nation. If you have extra money to spend, paying a premium can help to expedite the immigration process.

Some people coming to the United States to work are eligible to pay a premium of $2,500 to receive the fast processing form I-129, which is the petition for nonimmigrant workers, or form I-140, which is the immigrant petition for alien workers.

The premium processing fee means that the USCIS office will put your application through within 15 days and process your forms as quickly as possible or refund your money. You should know that the 15-day processing fee does not guarantee that you will be approved but simply means that you will either be approved or denied within that 15 days. You can still be rejected or investigated for fraud when you pay the premium. Before you decide to expedite the process this way, you should make sure that you qualify for the agency's list of approved jobs.

Enlist the Help of an Attorney

One of the best things you can do to make your immigration process go faster is to hire a lawyer. An immigration attorney will have years of experience in dealing with the USCIS. They will be up-to-date on all the latest changes to the law, and they will be well-versed in filling out all the necessary forms and well-informed on the time limits of turning in important documentation.

You should look for an immigration attorney who has experience in dealing with people from your particular country. If you are coming to America from Israel, you may want to look for a Jewish Immigration Lawyer. If you are coming to America from the Philippines, you will want to choose an attorney who is familiar with the operations of the American consulate in the Philippines.

Make Sure Your Application is Error Free

Whenever you fill out a government application, whether you are looking for a student immigration visa, a green card, or actual citizenship, you always want to make sure to dot every I and cross every T. You should check your forms for accuracy several times before you turn them in. It never hurts to turn in extra documentation in addition to what is required.

Permanent residency in the United States is well worth the time and effort that you will need to put into it. Hiring a professional, paying a premium fee, and paying careful attention to detail can help you realize your American dream sooner.
