Stichting Investor Claims Against Fortis (SICAF) versus Ageas

In 2016, Diaz Reus helped Stichting Investor Claims Against Fortis (SICAF) settle with Ageas. SICAF is a foundation that protects the rights of investors by recovering any losses on their investments. Ageas, a Belgian multinational insurance company, agreed to pay 1.2 billion euros to eligible shareholders listed in the settlement documents.

The case was Europe's largest shareholder settlement of claims at that time. The SICAF foundation provides representation services to more than 150 institutional investors in North America, Europe, and Asia. The foundation initiated two separate lawsuits against Ageas and other defendants.

The cases were filed in Utrecht courts between 2011 and 2012. Investors were seeking compensation for losses on investments in Fortis shares. The investments were made between 2007 and 2008.

Gildan Activewear Inc. class action settlement - Canada

In 2010, Gildan Activewear Inc. settled with investors following a class action lawsuit. The company agreed to pay investors $22.5 million after it was accused of issuing misleading earnings guidance for 2008. Diaz Reus law firm helped investors present the case by proving that Gildan issued misleading statements about its operations in the Dominican Republic.

The statements claimed that its manufacturing facility in the Dominican Republic was operating at optimal levels similar to the well-established facility in Honduras. Additionally, Gildan Activewear Inc. failed to inform investors timely about events compromising productivity at its Dominican Republic facility.

Gildan's initially rose before falling by 30 percent after revelations of the true nature of its operations in the Dominican Republic.
