James Cameron Compliments Ridley Scott But Hopes 'Alien' Franchise Ends

By

James Cameron admitted that he's not too thrilled too see the "Alien" franchise live on but still has some good words for director Ridley Scott.

The 62-year-old director has always been a prominent name in Sci-Fi films. Despite directing the follow-up to the original "Alien" movie, Cameron isn't too keen on the future of the series.

The "Avatar" director justified his attempt in revitalizing the franchise with "Aliens" citing that it was an attempt to honor Ridley Scott's original film. "I sort of did it as a fanboy," admitted Cameron.

During an interview with Vulture, the "Aliens" director believes that fans have "moved on" from the series. Cameron emphasized that he claims no responsibility for the succeeding "Alien" films beyond "Aliens."

With that being said, the Sci-Fi director still believes that "Aliens" is the proper heir to Ridley Scott's original film. Cameron further criticized the other "Alien" films by stating that he doesn't think they "worked out terribly well."

Despite the dismissive assessment, Cameron still has some encouraging words for Ridley Scott. "I will stand in line for any Ridley Scott movie, even a not-so-great one", Cameron shared.

The "Titanic" director further complimented Scott saying that he always learns something from him. Although Cameron questioned the "validity" of the upcoming "Alien: Covenant" film, he's going to give it a chance. "Let's see what Ridley comes up with", Cameron added.

Meanwhile, Cameron is looking to revive another old film franchise of his own. The Canadian director is hoping to breath life to his "Terminator" franchise once again.

According to DigitalTrends, Cameron will be teaming up with "Deadpool" director Tim Miller. The film will be handled by the same team behind "Terminator Genisys", Skydance studios.

Only this time, Cameron will be "godfathering" the project along with them. However, fans shouldn't expect to see a trailer anytime soon since the franchise won't be under Cameron's hands until 2019.
