UFC News: Floyd Mayweather Jr. Just Hungry For Attention In Conor McGregor Challenge

By

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been retired from boxing since September 2015 but he just cannot keep himself out of the headlines. He's been linked with boxing match with MMA star Conor McGregor but it seems like he likes the attention more than making the fight happen.

According to Tim Dahlberg of ABC News, Mayweather wants the spotlight more than anything. Dahlberg noted that the attention "Money" is getting from all the talk of a potential McGregor fight is more than important than making it happen.

The possible "Dream Match" between Mayweather and McGregor will surely be inside the boxing ring. It's easily a mismatch and nothing more than a money-making fight for the two superstars. Mayweather is very open to fighting the UFC star as long as he is the one promoting the fight.

Dahlberg added that the UFC will not risk getting their biggest star beat in a boxing match. The UFC's newest owners are surely unhappy that Ronda Rousey got embarrassed in her last fight which means McGregor is the sole superstar on the UFC roster at the moment.

On the other hand, UFC president Dana White continued the trash talk against Mayweather. White called out the undefeated boxer once again for saying that he's a better draw than McGregor. He told FOX Sports that he's never going to let his UFC lightweight champion get less than Mayweather.

"First of all, Floyd thinks he's so much bigger than Conor - he's wrong. Floyd's gone undefeated for 20 years, I give him all the credit in the world for doing that," White said.

"For him to think that he's a much bigger star than Conor isn't true. I'm not going to pay him way more money than I'm going to pay my guy," he added.

In the meantime, Mayweather is currently busy training rapper Soulja Boy for his fight against Chris Brown, per Billboard.com. The 39-year-old boxer will be in the corner of the "Crank That" rapper for the match in March.
