Two police officers was shot on Wednesday afternoon in Inglewood, California as a suspect barricaded himself inside a home while holding a woman hostage at gunpoint, according to CBS Los Angeles.

The initial shooting reportedly occurred at 12:35 p.m on Wednesday, as initially an officer was shot while wearing a protective vest.

The two injured officers were transported to Centinela Hospital by fellow police officers, according to news reports.

At least two children were seen being carried from the residence.

"The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Hawthorne police were aiding the Inglewood Police Department with the investigation.

Several streets have been closed off near the Inglewood home, according to CBS Local in Los Angeles.
