'Gotham' officially renewed for season 3 by FOX; Season 2 'Wrath of the Villains' episode airs April 18th

FOX president officially announced that "Gotham" Season 2 will continue for season 3. "The Pee Wee Herman" star Paul Reubens will make a cameo appearance in the upcoming installment as Penguin's biological father. Aside from that, season 2's episode 18 titled 'Wrath of the Villains: Pinewood' official plot description has been released by the network.

FOX Broadcasting Company Entertainment president David Madden officially announced that the network has picked up "Gotham" for a season 3 renewal. According to Cinema Blend, the Batman prequel series went on in a healthy and steady viewership performance and household ratings.

Its sophomore season has received an average number of 9 million total viewers across multi-platforms. "Gotham" Season 2 also earned a place among this season's Top 10 entertainment programs overall among men in the 18-49 demographic, and ranked among the season's top 5 broadcast dramas among men in the 18-49 and 18-34 demographic.

With that being said, "The Pee Wee Herman" star Paul Reubens officially signs in as a guest star in the upcoming episode of "Gotham" Season 3. The 63-year-old American actor, writer, film producer, game show host, and comedian will portray the role of Elijah Van Dahl.

Elijah happens to be the biological father of Oswald Cobblepot aka Penguin (Robin Taylor). Reuben's character will debut in the March 21, 2017 episode of the seies, Variety has cited.

As for the official plot synopsis of episode 18, Comic Book Movie notes, "After leaving Arkham Asylum, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) attempts to make amends with James Gordon (Ben McKenzie). Then, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) track down one of Doctor Thomas Wayne's (Grayson McCouch) former friends from Project Chimera, but Hugo Strange (BD Wong) disrupts their plans."

"Gotham" Season 2 Episode 18 is entitled as "Wrath of the Villains: Pinewood". The forthcoming episode is scheduled to premiere on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. first and exclusive on FOX Network.
