Actress Vanessa Hudgens to pay fine and restitution or appear in court following Sedona carve violation

High school Musical actress Vanessa Hudgens was told to pay fine and restitution or appear in court over alleged carving on Sedona's precious red rocks. The actress and her actor boyfriend went to Arizona's popular State Park around Valentines' Day and allegedly carved out their names over the rocks.

Authorities is letting actress Vanessa Hudgens to choose whether to pay fine and restitution or settle the issue in court, Daily Mail reported. Hudgens uploaded a photo in her instagram depicting a photo of the actress' and her boyfriend's names, Austin Butler, engraved with a heart on the red rocks of Sedona.

Coconino National Forest was keen on violators who were damaging the precious red rocks. The US Forest Service said that damaging a protected natural landmark is a misdemeanor and is also punishable of imprisonment for up to six months. Violators are also ordered to pay a fine worth of $5,000 in maximum.

The ABC News reported that officials of the Forest Service said on Tuesday, they already notified the actress and was cooperative in locating the specific location of the carving. The violation was also referred to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Flagstaff for investigation which scheduled a "potential hearing date" and contacted the actress.

Authorities gave Hudgens two options which are to pay undisclosed fine and restitution or take the case in court for her to face misdemeanor violations of defacing and/or damaging natural features.

Hudgens and Butler were in a romantic getaway in Sedona, AZ Central reported. The place is konwn for the protected Red Rock State Park. The 27-year old actress posted several photos of her romantic getaway experience with Butler on the said place.

One of the photos was an incriminating evidence of her violation. Hudgens posted the photo which showed a carved heart with their names engraved inside and wrote, "Happy Valentine's Day boo boo bears." The actress later deleted the said photo in Instagram. Hudgens is known for her role famous in High School Musical TV show and movie as Gabriella Montez.
