2 Million Bikers: Thousands Honor 9/11 Victims in DC & to Protest Controversial Muslim Rally (Video)

Thousands of bikers from throughout America converged in DC in a show of support for the victims of September 11 attacks, and also to counter a controversial Muslim rally at the Washington Mall, which had been planned for the past few months.

The 2 Million Bikers to DC, as it is called, stretched about a third of a mile from the starting point at the Harley Davidson of Washington store just outside the District in Prince George's County, as reported by The Washington Times.

Belinda Bee, the national coordinator of the event said the show in numbers by the bikers was to show respect to the 9/11 victims.

"We apologize to D.C. residents, but they had plenty of time to help us with this rally," Bee said, referring to federal and local authorities.

"We realized there was going to be a lot of traffic. We would have gotten through town in two hours. For some reason the powers that be in D.C. no longer feel Americans have the right to voice an opinion.

"We're here for 9/11. We are going to have a peaceful ride," Bee added.

Bee also said the ride was originally set up to counter a scheduled rally set up by the American Muslim Political Action Committee to draw attention to what they deem as unfair fear of Muslims after the September 11 attacks.

The Million American March Against Fear, originally called the Million Muslim March but was renamed, after widespread scrutiny, was permitted by the National Park Service, despite public outcry.

"This is very disgraceful. They picked a day precious to the United States and its citizens," 54-year-old Dan O'Brien said at the event.
