LG V10 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update on Verizon Finally Pushed; Will AT&T and T-Mobile Follow Sooner?

By

LG V10 units under Verizon Wireless have finally been updated to the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow via over-the-air (OTA) release. Verizon is the first carrier to release the upgrade to the device.

Verizon had been rolling out the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to several devices already since March 2016 opened. Its versions of LG V10 were the first to get such update in the U.S. T-Mobile and AT&T are expected to follow Verizon's move anytime sooner.

T-Mobile has been on with its Marshmallow tracker since October 2015 when the software launched. However, the LG V10 of the carrier is still in the manufacturer development stage until now, since it was revealed for update to Android 6.0. There were reports that the magenta carrier might be releasing the update before March will end. It has not released official statement though. Among T-Mobile's priority devices that have already been updated are HTC One M8, One M9 and LG G4.

Meanwhile, AT&T has not spoken about the update yet. Just like T-Mobile, the carrier must also be on the verge of preparing for the upgrade which is expected to come before April 2016 opens.

Verizon had already released Marshmallow to Galaxy Note 5, LG G4, LG G3, Moto X Pure Edition (2015), HTC One M9, One M8 and Google Nexus phones.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow software version on Verizon for LG V10 is VS99022A. It brings major tweaks on the overall system performance including improved visibility of notification panel icons, more quick settings toggles for Private Mode in the status bar, minor tweaks on how the phone vibrates when locked with a fingerprint, like how the phone will only vibrate when the fingerprint is not recognized.

Marshmallow will also bring Doze, redesigned app drawer, Google Now on Tap, simpler volume controls, fingerprint and USB Type-C support, runtime permissions, direct share, controlling notifications, better Google settings, and so many others.
