‘Max Mad: The Wasteland’ Update: George Miller hints sequel could happen in the future; Megan Gale keen on working with the director for the next installment

Following the success of Mad Max: Fury Road not inly in the box office, but in reviews as well, many are already excited about its the sequel, Mad Max: The Wasteland. The film's development is still indefinite, director George Miller gave an update on its possibility. Megan Gale has also expressed her interest on collaborating with the critically acclaimed director again.

It is evident that Mad Max: Fury Road has been great success following its handful of nominations in several awarding event. With this, it is expected that a sequel might already be in talks right now. According to Spy, another Mad Max film could be in the works as director George Miller has been teasing the fans. After Oscars night, the director was asked on the possibility of a part 2 and he said "Well...we...maybe, maybe that's all I can say."

Moreover, the film which has earned $377 million over a $150 million budget has notably won 6 out of 10 nominations it garnered during the recent Academy Awards, as reported by Nano News. The film's production was the highlight after it secured the win for Editing, Makeup, Production design, sound editing, sound mixing and costume design. This is evidently a call for a sequel for George Miller who lost the Best Director award to The Revenant's Alejandro Inarritu. The film was also nominated for Visual Effects but Ex Machina gained the upper hand in the field. Nonetheless, 6 wins are already notable for a single film and this might call for the studio to consider a fifth Mad Max film.

In fact, Daily Telegraph wrote that Megan Gale who was a part of the original film already expressed her interest on returning for the Mad Max sequel. The actress is rooting for the film, indicating she'll be doing it for nothing. She said "I would work with that man any day of the week, probably for free." She added that working with George Miller has been an incredible experience. She also mentioned the consideration if the next film would be a prequel or a sequel, saying Miller will try to take the film very carefully.

To date, Mad Max: Wasteland remains a speculated sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road that gathered 10 Academy Awards nominations. It would be the fifth film in the franchise of Mad Max and George Miller is being tapped to return as director.
