'Wayward Pines' season 2 latest cast update reveals that a dead character will return to life. Carla Gugino reprises her role Kate, who was frozen by First Generation kids during the 1st season finale. Melissa Leo is also returning to thriller series.

'Wayward Pines' season 1 ended the fate of Kate. It can be remembered that Carla Gugino's character was cryogenically frozen by the First Generation kids during the ending three-year time jump. But many speculate that she will be coming back.

And fortunately, TVLine confirms that Carla Gugino is coming back to 'Wayward Pines' season 2. In fact, the actress posted a photo of herself on the set via Instagram with a caption: "Kate coming to life. @waywardpines #hairandmakeup #onlocation #Vancouver"

It seems that some people have unfrozen the body of Kate, and they revive her to life. However, TVLine also notes that Kate's appearance in sophomore season may be limited. The actress has been added to Showtime's Cameron Crow rock drama Roadies as series regular.

Aside from Gugino, a familiar face is also returning to the show. SpoilerTV reports that Melissa Leo is coming back to the show. Like Gugino, she has limited cameos as in guest appearance.

FOX's 'Wayward Pines' is based on Blake Couch novels. Season 2 will see a new arrival in Idaho town who finds himself in the middle of chaos led by the First Generation over how to preserve humanity from possible extinction.

Josh Helman is also set to play the role as Xander. His character is a charming young man who tries to blend in with the residents. But little did the people know he has a hidden agenda of destroying Wayward Pines from within.

New faces also include Kacey Rohl and Nimrat Kaur. Some cast members are yet to be revealed soon.
