Samsung Galaxy S5 G900F Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update via Temasek Custom ROM: Installation Guide

Samsung Galaxy S5 units with model number G900F can now proceed to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow by installing the Temasek custom ROM. This unofficial firmware is based on CM 13 with heavily relies on customization options as major thrust.

Temasek boasts Marshmallow visual enhancements for Samsung Galaxy S5 on top of its customization features. The ROM has already been made available to other devices including LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S3.

Like any other custom ROMs, interested device owners are cautioned to take responsibility of their phones as installing ROMs might brick them. Take note of the following reminders and preconditions before proceeding to the installation of Temasek to Samsung Galaxy S5:

1. Make sure that Samsung Galaxy S5 has model number G900F. Using other variant may cause severe damage to phone. To know the model number of the phone, go to Settings > About device or About phone.

2. Install TWRP Recovery here.

3. Back up all necessary data here, including apps, SMS messages, contacts, call history, APN settings and more. Samsung KIES can also be used for backup.

4. Download USB driver here.

5. Installing the any custom ROM induces risk of damaging device. Neither this site nor developers of the CarHDRom will be held responsible for such damage.

To proceed with the installation, here's a quick guide

1. Download Android 6.0.1 Temasek ROM here and GApps here on PC.

2. Connect phone to PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy then paste downloaded ROM to phone's memory or SD card.

4. Switch off phone and plug it out from the PC.

5. Go to Recovery Mode by press holding volume up, home and power buttons.

6. Choose 'Wipe' to delete of data and 'Swipe to Factory Reset'.

7. Go to main menu and choose 'Install'. Choose the copied ZIP file on the phone.

8. Choose 'Swipe to Confirm Flash'.

9. Wait for the installation to complete.

10. When phone gets into any boot loops or other troubles, tap 'Wipe cache/dalvik' button.

11. Choose 'Reboot System'.

Check the software version of the device on Settings > About phone.
