Authorities in southwest Missouri said they arrested 34-year-old suspect Bobby D. Bourne Jr. for felony kidnapping in connection to the disappearance of Adriaunna Horton, the Huffington Post reported. 12-year-old Adriaunna Horton who was listed as missing, according to to Sgt. Jason Pace, of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, was later reported as dead.

"She was last seen getting into a vehicle near Hazel Park in Golden City. At approximately 7 p.m. [Monday] evening, officers... made contact with the reported vehicle and detained the driver for questioning. As a result of the investigation, charges were filed," Pace said.

An endangered missing person alert had been set off earlier on Wednesday.

James Horton, Adriaunna's father, had said he went to the park on Monday afternoon before the young girl disappeared. It has been reported that the suspect Bourne had once worked for him, but no additional information was provided.

"There has been an outpouring of officers that have been out here to help locate this young lady," Barton County Sheriff Mitchell Shaw said. "The investigation is ongoing [and] we will continue to search for Adriaunna until she is brought home."

Investigators won't comment on what, if anything, Bourne has said since his arrest, news reports said. It has not been revealed if Bourne even has a lawyer, the Huffington Post also reported.
