The Raspberry Pi 3 is now on sale for $35 at the official Raspberry Pi website. The new single-board computer is touted to be 10 times faster than the Raspberry Pi 1 with its new and improved processor.

To celebrate its fourth birthday, the Raspberry Pi Foundation launched a new single-board computer, called the Raspberry Pi 3. The Pi 3 is now on sale at the company's official website for $35, similar to the price of its predecessor.

The Raspberry Pi 3 SBC boasts a new and improved SoC that will increase its performance 50-60% higher than the Raspberry Pi 2 and 10 times faster than the Raspberry Pi 1. It runs on a 1.2 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU (64-bit) supplied by Broadcom. The BCM2837 chip in Raspberry Pi 3 uses the same basic architecture as its predecessors.

Softpedia said that the Raspberry Pi 3 will feature native Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) support with on-board antenna as per an FCC listing. Fans have long waited for these features to show up in the Raspberry Pi board. The Bluetooth LE or Bluetooth Smart will reportedly not support 2.4GHz connectivity.

The Raspberry Pi 3 is named as the most popular single-board computer in the world today. Earlier rumors suggested that the Pi 3 will sport a similar design to previous Pi boards. TechWorm reported that some features that can be found in the Raspberry Pi 3 include a microSD card slot, Ethernet and HDMI jacks, and 4 USB ports.

Raspberry Pi released its newest board on February 29, at the same time the original Pi Model B was launched 4 years ago. Over 8 million Pi boards have been shipped worldwide.

Today, the Raspberry Pi 3 can be purchased from partner retailers, such as RS Components and element14. Raspberry confirmed that it will not discontinue earlier Pi models. There could also be a Raspberry Pi 3 Model released later this year.
