'John Wick 2' Update: Sequel Gets Official Title, Release Date; New Villain, Plot Details Revealed

John Wick 2 is happening with the exceptional Keanu Reeves reprising his role after he's shown what he is capable of in the first film. Finally, the sequel got its official title and release date.

Fans loved how the studio treated John Wick's character in the first film last 2014, and with this, the studio is giving the fans another John Wick movie in 2017. According to Reality TV World, Keanu Reeves' upcoming action film is getting a new title and an exact release date. The sequel is entitled "John Wick: Chapter Two" as the titular character will be back to bring chaos to villains. The release date is said to be on the Valentine's weekend next year, February 10, 2017. This would be clashing with the release of another anticipated film, Fifty Shades Darker, but fans are yet to see which one is going to topple the box office.

Since John Wick is done beating up a Russian Mafia for killing his puppy in the first film, John Wick's newest villain comes in the form of Common, as reported by Vine Report. Common is the antagonist in the film who is a head security for a female crime lord. Plot details are still vague on how the two will cross paths since the first film's method was the puppy. Moreover, there is no detail yet regarding the actress who will play the villainous character.

Meanwhile, Cinema Blend specified the locale of John Wick and his battles. John Wick is said to be traveling in the Italian region to kick some ass. Specifically, John Wick 2 is set in Rome to get a change of scenery from the first film which garnered $78 million in revenue over a $20 million budget.

"John Wick 2" is the sequel to the neo-noir action film of the same title in 2014. It is slated to star Keanu Reeves as the titular character with directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. The script was written by Derek Kolstad and recurring actors include Ian McShane, Bridget Moynahan, John Leguizamo and Lance Reddick. "John Wick 2" is expected to hit theaters in February 10, 2017.
