'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12: Debbie Allen, Skyler Shaye's return confirmed; April-Jackson relationship official

Debbie Allen is set to return to "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 to reprise her role as Doctor Jackson Avery M.D.'s mother, Catherine while Skyler Shaye reappear as a recurring guest star, Katie Bryce. Also, ABC has released the official plot description of episode 12 'Unbreak My Heart'.

Cast member Debbie Allen officially returns to "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12. The 66-year-old American actress and dancer will reprise her role as Doctor Jackson Avery M.D.(Jesse Williams) mother, Catherine. Allen's character will debut in the 11th episode of the show, IB Times reports.

Skyler Shaye signs in for a recurring guest star in the ABC series and according to Just Jared, the 29-year-old American actress will reprise her role as Katie Bryce. Bryce happens to be a rhythmic gymnast who was introduced in the show as the then 15-year-old patient Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) treated way back when she was an intern. She was first admitted to the hospital with a sprained ankle and suffering from multiple seizures where Meredith discovered that the fall resulted to an aneurysm in her brain.

Shaye's character will reappear in the 12th episode where she will be readmitted to Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital with another aneurysm, this time, she will be under Doctor Amelia Shepherd's (Caterina Scorsone) care.

As for the official synopsis of episode 11, Spoilers Guide notes, "April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Jackson's relationship status is revealed. The evolution of April and Jackson's relationship is revealed through a series of flashbacks dating back to when they first met. Simultaneously, we follow the years-long progress of one of Jackson's patients."

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 Episode 11 is entitled as "Unbreak My Heart". The forthcoming episode is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. exclusively on ABC.

"Grey's Anatomy" is an American medical drama TV series created by Shonda Rhimes which focuses on the fictional lives of surgical interns and residents as they gradually evolve into seasoned doctors.
