Camille Cosby Faces Questions From Plaintiffs' Lawyers After Deposition Pushes Through

By

The wife of comedian Bill Cosby, Camille Cosby, has faced questions from the lawyers of the seven women who filed a defamation lawsuit against her husband. This came after her last-minute bid to delay the deposition has been denied.

According to Reuters, the seven women sued the comedian for defamation after they were called liars when they claimed that they were sexually abused. Camille was reportedly deposed at a hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts behind closed doors.

Daily Mail reported that the security at the venue was very tight as guards were stationed at every entrance of the hotel. As per photographs released by news publications present outside the hotel, Camille was seen smiling as she entered the establishment. She has been married to Bill for 52 years and she manages his business.

One of the lawyers of the plaintiffs, Joseph Cammarata, said in a statement before the deposition started that he will be asking Camille about her relationship with Bill as well as her relationship to his "personal interests, business interests, and matters that are relevant."

However, U.S. District Judge Mark Mastroianni said that she could not be compelled to reveal private conversations she had with her husband, DNA reported. More than 50 women came forward with their stories regarding their encounters with Cosby and most of them said drugs were involved in the supposed sexual assault incidents.

Camille has been firm with her claim that she did not supply her husband with the prescription sedatives he was accused of using to take advantage of the women who claimed they were sexually assaulted by the popular actor. Camille has been trying to get herself out of the deposition due to the aforementioned reason and has blasted the seven women saying that the law is clear about a husband and wife not having to testify against each other.

The plaintiffs also originally wanted to ask Camille about her husband's sexual preferences, her thoughts on the statements made against her husband, and whether or not she did provide him with drugs.

The deposition reportedly lasted for more than two hours and she is due to give another testimony next month, March 14, 2016.
