LG G3 under Verizon First to Get Official Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Update: Which Carrier is Up Next

By

Verizon Wireless is the first mobile operator in the United States to release the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow software to LG G3 units. Following Verizon's official rollout, many G3 owners asked when they will receive their and which carrier is up next.

LG G3 phones under Verizon Wireless are lucky enough to be the first models to receive the official update which seemed unlikely for the carrier. There is no confirmation yet as to when other carriers will release the update to their versions.

As of now, AT&T is reported to be preparing to release the update per Tech Times report. In another note, T-Mobile is currently in the development stage still. G3 units under the magenta carrier have been in development for five months since it was revealed for Marshmallow update back in October 2015. Meanwhile, Sprint and US Cellular surprisingly lagged behind. Last month, these two carriers were the first release Android 6.0 to LG G4 followed by T-Mobile then Verizon Wireless; AT&T's G4 remains stuck with Android 5.1 Lollipop.

If Marshmallow has not reached Verizon G3 units, go to Settings > About phone > Update Center > System Updates > Check for Update. Android 6.0 Marshmallow on Verizon with software version VS98546A is guaranteed to help improve device performance and solve bug issues through security patches.

Per change log released by Verizon Wireless on its support page, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring a selection of new features and enhancements to G3 phones to improve mobile experience.

Silent mode gets additional functionality as the Sound profile can now mute the device in Silent Mode. To do this, swipe down on the home screen for Quick Settings > Select the Sound icon. Other way to silence the phone is to press the volume down button until phone is put to silent mode.

Direct share lets phone share contact or conversation within an app. This feature needs the support of any messaging app like Messaging, Messenger, Skype, and WhatsApp, among others.
