Ariadna Gutierrez Overdressed for White House Event

It seems like the Miss Universe competition isn't the last time we'll be hearing about the first runner-up Miss Colombia. After a very unconventional coronation, it seems like the world is far from forgetting about Ms Gutierrez.

Although she doesn't hold the Miss Universe 2015 title, Ariadna Gutierrez is making headlines once again. This time, however, it has to do with her wardrobe choice when she attended a prestigious White House event on Friday.

In an exclusive interview with Fortune, the Colombian beauty queen revealed that she was invited to be part of the 15th anniversary of Plan Colombia. The event, held at the White House, was to celebrate the anniversary of the military and diplomatic agreement between the two countries as they work together to put an end to narcotic drug trafficking.

While her attendance to the event seems to be a wise choice for Gutierrez, the same cannot be said for her wardrobe choice. As a matter of fact, her dress-- a mauve Oscar de la Renta gown, drew criticism online. A photo of the beauty queen was posted on Instagram as she posed beside Miss Universe 2014 winner Paulina Vega and another delegate.

Compared to Gutierrez's outfit however, Vega chose a smart ensemble as she donned a white blouse and paired it with black pants and a blazer. Most of the criticism was from Colombian media and other individuals saying that the gown was inappropriate for a meeting as formal as this. The press called Gutierrez as "too overdressed" while others claimed that she looked like a cake. Many believed that the outfit she chose would have been better worn in a gala or red carpet event. Gutierrez has not responded to comments about her poor dress choice.

Other attendees of the event included journalist Luis Carlos Velez, actor John Leguizamo, Martin and Esteban Santos.
