Quarterback Stabbing Arrest: Michael Creed Charged with First Degree Assault and Possession of Deadly Weapon Injuring Trevor Sasek (Video)

Michael Creed, a 25-year old from Newark Delaware was arrested and charged with first degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon in connection with the early Sunday morning stabbing of University of Delaware senior quarterback Trevor Sasek, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Sasek, a graduate of Spring-Ford High in Royersford, suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen during an argument that led to a fight in the early hours of Sunday in a city parking lot.

The police reports said that "responding officers learned that an argument between the victim and a supect in the parking lot led to a fight. The victim, a 22-year-old UD student, was taken to Christiana Hospital by private vehicle," it read.

Creed fled the scene before being tracked down on Monday, and charged with first degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon.

At the University of Delaware, Sasek played in 13 games over the last three seasons as quarterback. In 2011, after earning the starting spot, he was sidelined by a knee injury Sasek was also a standout baseball player while in high school. A righthanded pitcher, Sakes helped his team go 19-10, advancing to the PIAA Class AAAA state final, news reports said.

In regards to the shooting Cpl. Gerald Bryday told Delaware Online that "this was an isolated incident. An argument between two people, which led to a fight and stabbing. There was no threat to the students or community at large," said Bryda.

University of Delaware spokeswoman, Andrea Boyle, confirmed the instiution would not release the name of the victim in the attack.

"University officials have been in touch with the student and his family and we wish him a speedy recovery," said John Brennan, school spokesman, according to DelawareOnline.com.
