Islamic State's new strategy coincided with Europol's new counter-terror center

By

Europol announced that the self-styled Islamic State has now developed a new strategy and special forces of war to target Europe. Ron Wainwright said during the launching of Europol's new center, that the group is now ready to carry out a campaign of large-scale terrorist attacks on the global stage, with a particular focus on attacking Europe.

The report of IS group developing new Special Forces coincided with the opening of the Europol center. FTC Publications Newswire reported that Islamic State terrorists are preparing more attacks, including Mumbai and other member states of the EU, particularly France.

Rob Wainwright announced such report during the opening of Europol's new counter-terror center in the Hague. Director Wainwright said that the unit would seek to improve information and data exchange and identify the links between terrorism and other forms of crime. According to BBC, the need was highlighted in particular by the attacks that took place in Paris last November 13.

EU Police Agency said that their unit would have between 30-50 experts in counterterrorism. Malta Today reported that the newly established center by the Europol was the first dedicated pan-European operational center to fight terrorism.

Due to the downing of a Russian plane over Egypt, Islamic State's strategy has changed. Instead of attacking a powerful nation, the attacks will be primarily shifted to softer targets. The attack in France and Russia's airliner provoked IS strategy to go global.

Rob Wainwright said that more than 5,000 EU nationals had been brainwashed fighting off-shores, and many had returned home. The director suggested that the best way to defeat the terrorist was to improve information exchange among EU members. He added that many of the terrorist suspects responsible for the attacks in Paris had a criminal background.

The new unit of Europol will uncover many links between crime and terrorism. Europol has 800 staff at its headquarters in The Hague and the director assured everyone that the newly assembled EU unit will not only overpower but also defeat the newly developed strategy by the IS group.
