Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update Rolled Out To Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Under Verizon; Sony Xperia C4, C5 Gets v5.1 Instead of 6.0 Marshmallow

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 under Verizon Wireless carrier started receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. Sony's Xperia C4 and C5 also obtained similar firmware upgrade instead of the Android Marshmallow.

According to Neurogadget, Verizon is a bit delayed in delivering the Lollipop upgrade since the rest of US major carriers already rolled out the Android 5.1.1 firmware months ago. But the significant thing is that it has reached the Galaxy Note 4 handsets and users of the device could finally enjoy the enhancement that it brings.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS upgrade provides support for Android for Work. This feature allows the users to separate the personal apps from the business ones. The Lollipop update for Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Note 4 also brings the Samsung Knox Platform and removes the Amazon App store as well as the Amazon Widgets.

Generally, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 handset is set to boost up the performance of the smartphone and, of course, bring fix for a few snags. This update also comes out with security improvements, so users will no longer experience security failures.

On the other hand, the Sony Xperia C4 and C5 Ultra also received the Lollipop update instead of jumping directly to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The firmware upgrade arrived to other variants of the device except for the model E5343 of the Xperia C4. For the single SIM card variant, the update is available in the form of build number 27.2.A.0.155, while the Dual SIM card variant gets the one with the build number 27.2.B.0.155.

Additionally, the E5503 and E5506 single SIM variants of the C5 Ultra would obtain the build 29.1.A.0.87, while the E5533 and E5563 Dual SIM variants would receive the build 29.1.B.0.87. The stock firmware can also be installed manually, using the Sony flashtool.

Although Sony hasn't provided any change-logs, the update is expected to bring bug fixes and system improvements. It will also carry in new animations, quick settings icons, improved panel, HD voice and dual SIM support. The screen pinning has been modified and if the handset gets lost or stolen, the users have the Device Protection, which is an improvement to the secure lock screen.

Master Herald added that Xperia C4 and C5 users are currently wondering when they are going to receive the Android Marshmallow update. It seems that Sony is having some issues with its development and it might take a while for the upgrade to hit the market. But the important thing is that it has been developed properly and thoroughly tested for bugs, instead of rushing out a version full of issues that would cause more problems for the smartphone owners.

Now that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Sony Xperia C4 and C5, the Marshmallow OS could be the next one to arrive. There is no fixed schedule yet though as to when the next update will be.
