Coast guards identify the 4 men involved in crabbing boat crash

In Oregon's coast, a jetty rammed with a 40-foot crabbing boat. The incident killed one fisherman, two men are still missing, while the boats captain survived the ordeal. Rescuers however were able to identify the four men involved.

According to Yahoo News, Jonathan Klingenberg, petty officer 3rd class said that the commercial fishing vessel sank at around 9 p.m. last Tuesday, it was identified as Eagle II and was based in Port Orford, near the California state line. The search had continued till Wednesday afternoon and was stopped at around 4 p.m. Klingenberg said that the wind was blowing more than 30 mph when the incident happened and waives reached 8-10 feet.

Steve Courtier, Port of Orford manager, stated that it deeply affects everyone because the community that they have is so small and News like this sends a big shock to everyone. He added that it makes them realized the risk that these fishermen faced just to make a living for their family as reported by ABC News.

The captain of the ship was washed ashore, and some good hearted residents helped him. The Coos County Sheriff's office identified the 52- year old captain resident of Orford as Glen Burkhow. The sheriff's office said that Blane Steinmetz, 52-yrs old, was the crew who died during the collision. Officers said that 37-year old Daniel Matlock and 31-year old Joshua Paulus continue to be missing. The rescue crew however are still continuing to travel and patrol the area to look for signs says report from KSL.

One of the most dangerous jobs in the world is commercial fishing. Between 1992 and 2007 coast guard reports revealed that 507 people have already died, it has accounted half of the total 934 commercial fishing related deaths, faulty equipment's are seen as one of the main reasons for these incidents.
