Woman in Police Custody for Alleged Murder of a 60 Year Old in Helmshore

A 34-year old woman is arrested and under suspicion investigation by the Police authorities regarding the murdered 60-year old woman in Helmshore, Rossendale. The victim who was believed to be Sadie Hartley was murdered on her home on Friday evening with knife stab wounds.

According to iTV, police continues to investigate the Helmshore murder case and said they have a 34-year old woman from Chester in custody for suspicion of a murder. The murdered victim is identified as Sadie Hartley, who was stabbed to death on her residence in the said location. Post mortem reports also revealed the cause of death was due to numerous stab wounds.

The deceased woman, on her 60's was a company director and a mother of three children was found in her hallway of her luxury residence (£500,000). It is located in the exquisite Lancashire village in Helmshore on Thursday night, Telegraph reported.

The Guardian also reported, police authorities suspected that the murder is a targeted attack by a person who had issues with the victim. Lancashire police officer DSI Paul Withers also said he refused to believe it was a random attack such as burglary. "I am not dismissing anything at this time. I think our deceased has been targeted. I think the person responsible had issues with Sadie, for whatever reason."

Hartley had been stabbed numerous times and also had numerous defense injuries, suggesting she had attempted to fight off her attacker. Withers also added, "I've been doing this for quite a bit now - 25 years and this is particularly horrendous, a really vicious attack."

It is also thought that Hartley was last seen alive on Thursday in Manchester at a conference along with a colleague. She is also believed to have returned home and last made contact with family on Thursday evening.

At around 8pm, CCTV captured a driver of a Renault Clio car that was seen around the time of the murder and also two people who were caught on CCTV in the vicinity. Wither said they are absolutely determined to trace these people. They also think these people could be key witnesses to their inquiry.

Police continues to patrol the area as well as doing house-to-house enquiries nearby the victim's residence. Forensic also continues their forensic examinations on the house.
