LG G Pad X 10.1 & G Pad X 8.3 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow upgrade is now available to LG G Pad X 10.1 and G Pad X 8.3 through custom ROM based on Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The AOSP for Marshmallow made by XDA offers new features on top of Marshmallow's updated emojis and a slew of improvements.

LG G Pad X 10.1 and G Pad 8.3 tablets can now be updated to the much-awaited Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow upgrade using the AOSP crafted by well-known XDA dev. The AOSP got upgraded on January 9 from its first released in October 2015.

G Pad X 10.1 is exclusively distributed by AT&T while G Pad 8.3 by Verizon.

According the official forum of XDA, the AOSP will come with Android 6.0, Doze, permissions control, Google Now on Tap, Android 6.0.1 emojis support, stability improvements, camera improvements, battery improvements, major user interface changes, updated thermal profiles, updated OEM apps, Play Store fix, Wi-Fi settings fix, and many others.

Before installing it, free up space on the device. Do not forget to back up necessary files using TWRP since the installation will wipe out all stored data. Additionally, enable USB debugging option on the device.

Install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to G Pad X 10.1 and G Pad 8.3 tablets with the following steps:

1. Download the Marshmallow ROM here and Google Apps package via Play Store.

1. Copy downloaded files to the device using a cable.

2. Disconnect and turn off phone.

3. Turn the phone into recovery mode. If device is rooted, use Quick boot app to boot into recovery, or by pressing and holding the volume down and power buttons together for a few seconds.

4. Perform wipe data operations.

5. Return to the main recovery menu once wiping task is completed and select Install then Storage.

6. Go to downloaded file's location.

7. Select the file and swipe it to begin installing.

8. When installation is done, restart device.

Lastly, users must be reminded that custom updates will render warranty of the device void.
