Mindy McCready Denies Murdering Boyfriend David Wilson, Calls Him 'Soul Mate'

By

Country singer Mindy McCready continues to mourn the loss of her boyfriend, David Wilson, who was found dead by an apparent gunshot wound earlier this month.

In an upcoming exclusive interview on NBC's "Dateline," McCready opened up for the first time, discussing her love for Wilson, and ruminating on the the persisting speculation about it. The famed star continues to deny she had any involvement with Wilson's death.

"Oh my god, no," she said. "He was my life. We were each other's life. There's no way to tell where one of us began and the other ended. We slept together holding hands."

When asked whether she believed "100 percent" Wilson may have either killed herself or had been murdered, she said, "I don't know."

Police responded to Wilson's Heber Springs residence at around 6:15, about a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Jan. 13. Wilson, a musician, was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m. McCready had been living there with the couple's 9-month old son Zayne, and her 6-year-old son, Zander, from a previous relationship.

McCready has had many legal battles in the past several years, including drug addiction, and spent some jail time. Wilson's death is the latest dark chapter of the country's singer's arduous, but celebrated life.

The investigation remains open.
