Virginia Madsen has been cast to play Captain Gregson's new love interest and Betty Gilpin to Sherlock Holmes in "Elementary" Season 4. Moreover, the official plot for episode 7 has been released by CBS.
A new love interest will be introduced in Captain Gregson's (Aidan Quinn) life. According to Entertainment Weekly, Virginia Madsen was officially cast for "Elementary" Season 4 to portray the character of Paige Cowen. Madsen's character is described as a former NYPD detective who is having a budding relationship with former Scotland Yard officer Gregson. Due to a scandal that forced her to leave her position at the police department, Cowen's eager to protect Gregson by keeping their relationship a deep secret.
In addition to that, fans and viewers alike will also be introduced to Sherlock Holmes' potential love interest. Design and Trend reports that "Nurse Jackie" alum Betty Gilpin has been recently cast to play the recurring character as Fiona Helbron. Gilpin's character is scheduled to appear on the January 21 episode of the Rob Doherty-created series. The 29-year-old actress is best known for her character as Dr. Carrie Roman in a Showtime series.
As for the official synopsis for Elementary Season 4 episode 7, Carter Matt notes, "When Dr. Joan Watson's (Lucy Liu) stepfather (John Heard) writes a crime novel based on her work with Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) without her knowledge, an underlying issue in their relationship will get revealed. Also, as Holmes and Watson investigate a retired FBI agent's murder, they will discover the man's death is connected to an unsolved case from the victim's career."
