‘Avengers: Infinity War’ directors to shoot entirely on IMAX; Key characters to die?

'Avengers: Infinity War' will be shot entirely on IMAX, as revealed by the Russo brothers. Joe and Anthony Russo admitted that the two-part sequel will involve "high stakes" and will be an "emotional journey". It was speculated that key characters of the franchise may be killed off in the new films.

According to Newsarama, Joe and Anthony Russo announced that the two-part installment of the upcoming Avengers films will be shot entirely on IMAX. Joe Russo explained, "I just feel that the thing that distinguishes movies right now is that widescreen format... Why you go out of your house and go to the theater is to have that experience that you can't have in your house." Russo revealed that their decision came after filming 20-minutes of 'Captain America: Civil War'.

Joe Russo added that fans will not be disappointed as the parts 1 and 2 will be the culmination of 20 preceding films. He said, "...it's the culmination of 20 movies, and so 20 films of storytelling will intersect in those movies."

The filmmaking duo also revealed during another interview that the "stakes are high" for their upcoming films -pointing to the possibility of the deaths of certain key characters. According to Techno Buffalo, Joe Russo admitted, "...there will be a price to pay for the characters... That's the whole point of cumulative storytelling. We're going to go on emotional journeys with these characters. We've got a lot invested in the emotion... As filmmakers, we believe in stakes. You can't have good storytelling without strong stakes. So, there will be a price to pay in Civil War."

Meanwhile, Marvel president Kevin Feige announced that another upcoming film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will play a key role in the events of 'Avengers: Infinity War'. Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa will make his full-feature debut as T'Challa, the King of Wakanda, in the 'Black Panther' film scheduled to be released before 'Infinity War'. According to Blastr, Feige revealed that T'Challa's story is important and links the next Avengers films together.

'Avengers: Infinity War' is a two-part installment to be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. Part 1 is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2017 while part 2 will premiere on May 3, 2019. The planned films are sequels to preceding films 'The Avengers' and 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.
