Ford rumored to release new Fiesta RS With '250 Horsepower'

By

There are rumors circulating the web that Ford will release a Focus RS in 2017, which is the 40th anniversary of the Fiesta line up.

According to Autoblog, the new model will have 53 more ponies to the 197-horsepower the Fiesta ST has. It will pack a 1.6-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder. The rumors first came from German magazine Autobild, which said that the new car will run on 250hp. Fiesta RD could sell at a more affordable price, which is good news for racing enthusiasts. If this rumor proves to be true, the new Ford Fiesta RS is expected to be released by the second half of 2016.

Meanwhile, Bold Ride reported that Ford announced December last year that it would start producing 12 new performance vehicles by 2020. Some of these cars include the 2016 Ford Focus RS, 2017 Ford GT, the Mustang Shelby GT350, and the F-150 Raptor pickup. The new Fiesta RS could have an all-wheel drive. This could definitely be a big leap for the increasingly popular hatchback line ups.

However, Clapway wrote that this rumor could probably be false. According to the online magazine, Ford could be saving its new all-wheel drive car for another model. None of the specs and features told in the rumors have been officially confirmed by Ford. Until a representative of the car maker would make official announcements, all of the reports would be mere speculations.

Speculation is typical in the automobile industry. One of the events where Ford could probably give an official announcement on a Fiesta RS would be on the upcoming Motor Shows. Concepts could be introduced during these events.

There could be a big possibility for updates from Ford early next year. Ford, after all, likes to bounce back when it hits a slump. This year has not been very profitable for the car maker as it suffered big losses.
