Gary Dourdan, the former "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" actor, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, claiming that he does not have sufficient funds to pay of his debts. According to TMZ, the 36-year-old actor filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 30.

According to the claim, Dourdan has $1.8 million in assets, bit owes over 1.7 million in credit and mortgages. Dourdan owes a large portion of this $1.7 million to the Union Bank and other banks as well.

The actor filed that his disposal income was only $321 per month, claiming that although he made $14,883 per month, $14,562 of the amount was spent in bills and taxes.

According to the bankruptcy file, the actor listed the value of his assets as follows: $200 in cash, $500 in watches, $4,000 in furniture, $ 1,500 in clothes, $200 in books, $ 3,000 in his personal bank account and a $7,000 2006 Dodge Charger, as reported by the Daily Mail.

According to the U.S. law, Chapter 11 bankruptcy, allows business entities - whether cooperate or individuals as solo proprietorship to file bankruptcy as a result of being unable to pay credit debts. According to the law, the debtor is in possession of all business operations and receiving income under the supervision or jurisdiction of the court. This means that Dourdan will still be in possession of all his income, but under the strict supervision of the court.

Dourdan told TMZ that he "anticipates major acting roles," and thus expects to be out of debt in the near future.

Dourdan is noted for his role in "A Different World". In 2000, he joined the caste of the hit crime-thriller "CSI Las Vegas" as detective Warric Brown. He left the show in 2008, after pleading guilty to the possession of cocaine ecstasy. In 2011, he was arrested for the possession of oxycontin and drug paraphernalia.
