Actress Paula Patton has officially filed for a divorce from her estranged husband, Robin Thicke, after being separated for eight months.

In the court documents published by TMZ, it showed that the divorce papers were filed last week in Los Angeles. She cited "irreconcilable differences" as the cause and sought joint custody for their four-year-old son, Julian Fuego.

According to CNN, some people pointed out that the reason for the breakup was Thicke's infidelity. In fact, he admitted this during an interview with New York radio station Hot 97 in July for the promotion of his new album.

"I'm a man. I messed up, and I had to lie for awhile. And then I stopped lying. And that was actually good for me, because I was tired of lying. So this whole album is me revealing everything," shared Thicke during the interview.

Since their separation, Thicke had desperately been trying to get his wife back. During his performance in Washington, D.C. last March, he sang "Lost Without U" which is a song about his wife. He even named his seventh album "Paula."

Apparently, his efforts and pleas fell on deaf ears as Patton already made it clear that she is not getting back with him. Aside from the divorce, the actress has reportedly opened the doors of her Calabasas bachelorette pad to her new boyfriend, Zak Waters, to move in.

According to Radar Online, a source confirmed that Waters had indeed moved in with Patton. "Zak moved in with her a couple of weeks ago. They are very happy together and he treats her how she deserves to be treated," the insider close to Patton revealed.

Meanwhile, the "Blurred Lines" singer is said to be to be hurting following the quick acceptance of Patton of their breakup. "Robin is heartbroken that Paula has moved on so quickly. She is done with him. She does not want anyone talking to her about Robin. She has moved on," spilled a source.

Although both parties have not released official statements regarding the matter, sources claim that the divorce is "harmonious."
