It looks like the shops who have been selling FC Barcelona shirts with Luis Suarez's name and number on it had gotten it right. BBC reported that the Uruguayan striker's football club Liverpool has agreed with the Spanish club to sell the football player for about £75 million. The embattled football player is expected to sign a five-year deal and will travel to Spain next week to get a medical.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers said, "Luis is a very special talent and I thank him for the role he has played."

Special indeed. Suarez was regarded as the top scorer in the Premier League and winner of the Professional Football Association and Football Writers' Association's Player of the Year awards last season. Liverpool had signed Suarez in 2011 from Ajax under a £22.7 million contract, and has four years left when the deal was struck with Barcelona.

Contrary to reports that the deal had been made in light of the recent biting scandal with Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during a World Cup match, the deal has been brewing on for months ahead of the tournament. Suarez has since issued a statement about the transfer, and said that the reasons for his transfer were personal.

"I hope you can all understand why I have made this decision. This club did all they could to get me to stay, but playing and living in Spain, where my wife's family live, is a lifelong dream and ambition. I believe now the timing is right," he was quoted as saying.

The deal would have him playing alongside Argentina's Lionel Messi and Brazil's Neymar, BBC noted.

On the other hand, one would have think that the third suspension that Suarez had gotten for biting an opponent had been too much to deal with for Liverpool, who had previously backed the Uruguayan. Meanwhile, Barcelona is left to deal with how they will be able to have Suarez actually play, considering the fact that FIFA has rejected the appeal filed by the player and the Uruguay Football Association.
