The latest witness account heard at the live broadcast murder trial of Paralympian Oscar Pistorius, neighbor Dr Johan Stipp told the court that he found the athlete praying over the body of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Steenkamp later succumb to gunshot wounds fired by Pistorius on Valentine's Day last year. BBC said that Pistorius has claimed that he accidentally shot his girlfriend as he mistook her for an intruder.

Stipp told the court that after finding Pistorius over the fatally injured Steenkamp, he tried to revive the latter. BBC said Stipp observed that Pistorius' left hand was on the model's right groin while his right hand, the second and third fingers specifically, were inside Steenkamp's mouth in an attempt to open his girlfriend's airway to breathe.

"Oscar was crying all the time.He was praying to God [saying] `Please let her live,'" Stipp told the court.

He also told the court that he saw Steenkamp's brain tissue in her hair, indicating that the model could have no chance of surviving even with emergency aid.

BBC said that it was this revelation that a police officer on standby handed out a plastic bag to Pistorius, who was observed to have been crying and was on the verge of vomiting throughout Stipp's testimony.

Stipp continued that after seeing Pistorius at an emotional state, he asked the "Blade Runner" star where the gun was. It was not indicated in the report whether Stipp's enquiries about the gun were answered by Pistorius.

The UK news agency said the state is looking to prove that Pistorius and Steenkamp had an argument, which would prompt the athlete to shoot his girlfriend fatally. The trial, which is being held at the high court in Pretoria, is on its fourth day of hearing. BBC said that as there are no juries at trials in the African region, Pistorius' fate will fall on the hands of Judge Thokozile Masipa.
