'PewDiePie' Loses Deal With Disney, Videos Contain Anti-Semitic Clips

Disney has dropped the deal with PewDiePie due to some anti-Semitic images on some of his videos. It has been known that nine videos of the YouTube star contained some Nazi-related images.

According to Tech Crunch, PewDiePie was a part of YouTube Red and had 53 million subscribers on YouTube. He also was connected to MakerStudios brand of the Disney Company. However, Disney cut the ties with PewDiePie right after Wall Street Journal found nine videos that contained anti-Semitic images.

PewDiePie is a Swedish star with real name Felix Kjellberg. There were already three videos that have been removed from the channel in January. The videos included a skit where Sri Langkans held up a sign with the words "Death to all Jews" written on it. Another clip also featured a man dressed as Jesus Christ saying that "Hitler did absolutely nothing wrong."

The Verge reported that Disney had a deal with PewDiePie through Maker Studios. He had all the editorial freedom as part of their deal. A spokesperson from the Maker Studios shares that even if PewDiePie have certain followers he went too far with the videos this time.

PewDiePie responded to all these and noted that all of the videos were intended to be jokes. He made those clips to show that anyone can do anything for money. He further noted that he ultimately knew that what he did was not acceptable and offensive.

Meanwhile, Business Insider reported that YouTube has ads on PewDiePie's videos and has not taken down any of his videos. He also is still part of the YouTube Red channel that has a $9.99 a month premium service.

PewDiePie is 27 years old and was born in Sweden. He gained more subscribers in the recent years. His subscribers had a significant rise of number in 2016. He still has videos on YouTube as what he have started.
