Former Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Chris Carter has found a new home, one that is a bigger market compared to Milwaukee. The New York Yankees finally got their man in Chris Carter after initially trying to trade for him.

Chris Carter, 30, and the New York Yankees have finally reached an agreement on a one year, $3.5 million contract, according to a report from ESPN. The signing of the contract is just a formality as the New York Yankees are still waiting for the results of the physical examination on Chris Carter.

Sources say that on top of the $3 million base salary, Chris Carter would also receive a $500,000 signing bonus. Chris Carter said that he can't wait for the season to start as he's raring to play for the New York Yankees.

"I am excited to go play for a bigger market team with more national exposure," Chris Carter said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.

Chris Carter last played for the Milwaukee Brewers last season. After the season ended, the Milwaukee Brewers did not offer Chris Carter a new contract, eventually making him a free agent.

During his stint with the Milwaukee Brewers last season, Chris Carter had 41 home runs, tied for the National League lead for home runs made in a season. Chris Carter also struck out 206 times, a National League high last season.

Just last fall, the New York Yankees tried trading for Chris Carter. Instead, the New York Yankees went in a different direction and signed Matt Holliday to a one year, $13 million deal, via a report from the New York Daily News.

Chris Carter was a 15^th round pick of the Chicago White Sox back in 2005. In December of 2007, Chris Carter was dealt to the Arizona Diamondbacks and was again traded to the Oakland Athletics after a month. Chris Carter made his Major League debut with the Oakland Athletics in 2010.
