WCVB said in a report that a local lawsuit was filed against former New England Patriot football player Aaron Hernandez. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs claimed that a companion of the sports star shot Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado in Boston two years ago. The families of both Abreu and Furtado are seeking $6 million each in damages, the local news report said.

Fernandez has been named in the lawsuit in the hopes that the ex-National Football League star could identify the gunman who shot the two men, authorities have said. The men, who were at a neighboring vehicle at the time of the fatal shooting, were reportedly shot by a gunman who was inside Hernandez's car. According to the lawsuit, Hernandez allegedly was an occupant of a sport utility vehicle where the shots came from. The lawsuit also claimed that the attack not provoked nor there was any justification to the fatal shooting of both Furtado and Abreu.

Currently, the 24 year-old is detained in relation to allegations that he murdered semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd. WCVB said that Lloyd was found dead near the former Patriots star's home in North Attleborough.

The news about Hernandez's connection in the double murder charges followed his involvement in a jailhouse fight will being detained for murder and weapons charges in relation to Lloyd's death, the local news report said. On Tuesday, the Bristol County House of Corrections handed Hernandez a 30-day solitary confinement for getting involved in a bloody altercation with another inmate.

According to TMZ, Hernandez had beaten the man while the latter was in handcuffs for around a minute before guards intervened and broke the fight up. Although the sheriff did not confirm the report, his office said that they will be looking into the altercation between Hernandez and the other inmate, WCVB said.
