'12 Monkeys' Season 3 Spoilers, News & Update: The Gang Goes Back To The 1980's

The "12 Monkeys" has been renewed for a third season. It is hinted that the gang are to make a trip back to the 1980's.

According to a report in Screen Rant, "12 Monkeys" Season 2 concluded last year. It brought a lot of revelations as the season was ending. There was a sad moment in the previous season when Cole (Aaron Stanford) had to give up his life for Cassie (Amanda Schull) in 1959.

At this point, the team is preparing for "12 Monkeys" Season 3 and there are several characters added to the series. James Callis is to join the cast as another time traveler. Christopher Lloyd is also going to join the series in the upcoming season. He will portray the role of Zalmon Shaw who is described to be a charming yet deadly cult leader.

Entertainment reports that even though Cassie has been sent off to a far off future in the previous season, she gets to be reunited with the gang in "12 Monkeys" Season 2. The gang is set to go back to the 1980's in the upcoming season.

It is hinted in the same report that the characters in "12 Monkeys" Season 3 are all going back to the time of the 80's. It seems that they all will meet up with some familiar faces along the time travel to the past.

Meanwhile, a report from Den of Geek indicates that there is no official air date has been revealed yet for "12 Monkeys" Season 3. However, production is ongoing for the upcoming season. Aside from the already mentioned casts to join the series, Hannah Waddingham and Faran Tahir are also to join the series in recurring roles.

It is hinted that Waddingham is to portray the role of Magdalena. She is a member of an apocalyptic cult that has been charged of protecting The Witness in "12 Monkeys" Season 3. Tahie on the other hand plays the role of a resident of Titan.

A new time travel can be expected from "12 Monkeys" Season 3. The series is set to air this year.
