With popular belief rising that the new film "A Dog's Purpose" promotes and includes animal abuse, the star of the movie has stepped forward. Dennis Quaid is furious with whoever believes that any animals were mistreated on set.

Dennis Quaid furiously shut down ideas that any canines were abused in involvement with the film were during production. This reaction took place after the release of disturbing footage which shows German Shepard dog unwillingly being forced physically into a pool that had artificial rapids.

In regards to the abuse allegations, Quaid said, "It makes me angry." while speaking to Entertainment Tonight. He furthered his statement by saying "I was there. I never saw any abuse of any animal. If there had been, I would have walked. My experience is that the animals were treated great. There was no animal abuse."

The video in question was published last week by TMZ, which shows a German Shepard, held by a crew member, attempting to move away from the edge of a huge swimming pool. After successfully dipping the animal in the water, the dog clings onto the pool's side until it is pulled out.

Quaid, 62-years of age, finds the timing of the release of the minute-long footage questionable and believes that it is highly edited. The actor stated that the video taken and sold for money after being held onto for over a year fails to tell the whole story.

Ever since the video in question went public, the film received massive backlash and currently rates at 3.8/10 on IMDB. PETA, the animal rights group, also led a boycott against the movie. Despite all the pushback against the movie, Quaid is constantly encouraging people to watch it as he attempted to rationalize the reason behind the dog's distress in the water scene.

The movie "A Dog's Purpose," also stars Britt Robinson. It moves to shed light on the bond shared by man and canine from a dog's point of view. It also shows the dog moving through multiple reincarnations to become other dog breeds.
