One of Xiaomi's highly-reviewed phablets may soon be getting an Android Nougat, courtesy of its recent spotting on a benchmaking site.

Although it is typical for a phablet to go on with the latest operating system platform, the sighting of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro on GFXBench toting the latest Android Nougat has come off as a bit of a surprise to many. This is mostly due to the Chinese manufacturer's history in its Redmi series. As such, only its flagship Xiaomi Mi roster is almost always being prioritized to get uan upgrade.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro was initially released with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on Jan. 2016 and has since been upgradable to Android 6.0.1 a month after. The 5.5-inch phablet is now seen to be running the Android Nougat platform on the GFXBench benchmarking website, an indication that Xiaomi is very well be testing the device for a software update.

The bang-for-buck Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro is famed for its aluminum unibody design. It sports a massive 4000mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor. In addition, the phablet is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 and is supported by 2GB random access memory (RAM) with 16GB of storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage.

Optically, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro is boasting a 16MP rear camera, coupled with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and a dual LED flash. Meanwhile, its front-facing snapper is also equipped with f/2.0 aperture. A dual SIM functionality, LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, and a microUSB are also included.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro is also featuring an accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass sensors. Among its notable drawbacks are its non-removable battery and its non-sporting of Quick Charge 2.0/3.0 support.

The official rolling out of the Android Nougat for Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro has not been announced yet. But as most Xiaomi devices, it is expected to ship off very much soon.
