American premium cable network HBO is surely on all fours now in expanding the coverage of its "TV Everywhere" service HBO Go as it updated its app with probably its most significant development to date.

The Verge reported that the cable-only channel HBO Go is getting the Apple TV app along with the "single-sign-on" feature. The newly featured add-on will now allow its users store their log-in credentials through the Apple platform. In addition, the subscriber doesn't need to key in their username and password separately when he taps on an HBO show from within the application.

On the other hand, the new update will allow the subscribers' viewing habits along with their other data to be directed to the Apple's software accordingly. As such, once the subscriber links his HBO Go account, suggestions on the "What's Next" tab will spring up and the user will be able to add the following shows to the "Up Next" roster. Meanwhile, the subscriber can also utilize the Cupertino-based firm's universal search functionalities just within the TV app to look for other HBO programs.

The "single-sign-on" feature was first launched last December by Apple. In a nutshell, it is developed to allow cable subscribers to streamline their television watching experience effortlessly. It enables them to sign in once with their cable credentials just once on all cable-restricted content within apps. With HBO now onboard, there are more than 20 popular television apps that are supporting the "single-sign-on" feature.

Apart from garnering the Apple TV app and the "single-sign-on" feature, the new HBO Go update has also secured the much-awaited "recent" feature that shows the movies a subscriber is currently watching via the home screen. Previously, the service's subscribers had to access the search bar in order to relocate a certain show.
