‘The Middle’ News & Update: ABC Renews Series For Season 9

"The Middle" has been renewed for a ninth season, according to ABC on Wednesday and is an early renewal for the series.

According to a report in Entertainment, "The Middle" has been a long-time running sitcom for ABC. In fact, President of ABC Entertainment Channing Dungey states that the series has been consistent. It helped the network launch a whole new night when the show was moved to Tuesdays.

"The Middle" is currently on its eighth season. It tells a story of the Heck family in Orson, Indiana. Mike Heck (Neil Flynn) is the head of the family and works as a manager at a local quarry. His wife Frankie Heck (Patricia Heaton) is a dental assistant and uses her with to survive the everyday hurdles of life.

In a report from Variety, co-creator Eileen Heisler notes that when the team was developing the sitcom, there were not much of a family comedy shows then. She adds that the show has come up with the team from observation.

"The Middle" has given fans a glimpse on how the middle class working family lives. According to a report in Deadline, ever since the comedy show launched in 2009 it had been a dependable anchor for ABC. The show has been moved from Wednesdays to Tuesday at 8pm.

Additionally, The Middle raised its rank every year. The Tuesday time-slot has been mostly watched and it has been that way for five years now. The show has been consistently making it high for the network in the past years.

Meanwhile, "The Middle" is still going strong and the show also stars Charlie McDermont as Axl. Additional stars include Eden Sher who portrays the role of Sue and Brick is played by Atticus Shaffer. The executive producers of the comedy series are Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline.

"The Middle" Season 8 Episode 13 is set to air on Feb. 7.
