The "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" director shared an iconic signature "Star Wars" teaser on his Instagram account. Rian Johnson showcased a pictured featuring the iconic "Star Wars" intro scene. This time around, the "Episode 8" title is followed by "The Last Jedi" further solidifying the title's status.

Fans were left wondering what the official title of the movie would be as it was merely known as "Star Wars Episode 8" for quite some time. Now, not only was the title revealed, the director also teased this iconic piece of "Star Wars" material.

Below the "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" teaser is the caption of Johnson stating how "good" it felt drop this particular sequence into the film. Undoubtedly, the fans are just as excited about the film, as he is.

The last Jedi in a galaxy far, far away 

According to a report by NME, the upcoming "Star Wars" film is dubbed as the "next chapter of the Skywalker saga." The next film will certainly pick up where :"The Force Awakens" left off.

That means fans will be greeted by Luke Skywalker's rugged appearance, early in the film. The source also mentioned that the key part of "The Last Jedi" is Luke's relationship with Daisy Ridley's character, Rey. This might entail that we'll get to see a training sequence scene, similar to how Yoda trained Luke in the swamps of Dagobah.

Deciphering the title

"Star Wars" fans have been debating over what the title "The Last Jedi" is really implying. A report from InternationalBusinessTimes even mentioned the possibility of Luke's death.

Some fans think that the title refers to Luke Skywalker, while others believe it's referring to Rey. Some even formulated a plot theory where Luke dies, which in turn makes Rey as the last Jedi.

Although these are merely speculations, we can't help but wonder if there's some accuracy to these theories. On the other hand, a previous report from IGN highlighted a tweet from Mark Hamill where he somehow confirmed his "Episode 9" appearance.

The same source also mentioned that he could be coming back as a ghost, so we can't rule anything out just yet. We will find out for ourselves once "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
