Speculations are arising that a brand new Nokia tablet is to be launched at the GFXBench. If 2017 hasn't already begun with a slew of surprises, informing tech savvy users all over the world that Nokia is back in the smartphone business is certainly a welcome change.

Just last week, the year marked the return of Nokia in the Android world where the Chinese variation of the Nokia 6 sold out in a single minute after it was launched on Jan. 19. The new addition to Nokia's Android-device collection seems to be a massive 18.4" tablet that runs the Android 7.0 Nougat. The gadget was spotted benchmarked on GFXBench.

GFXBench has provided information on an unidentified device labelling it as "FIH Edition" with a slew of Android 7.0. The brand licensee for Nokia mobiles, HMD Global, has partnered with Foxconn International Holdings manufacturing.

Although Foxconn is in business with multiple mobile brands, the notoriety of HMD's efforts gives way to a likely Nokia device release. The device is going along the lines of TCL and Samsung with their remarkably large tablets. The Nokia tablet stands at 18.4 inches and is a quad HD resolution.

The gadget is reported to be cell-capable as well and sports a 12-megapixels camera up front and at the back, both of which are capable of 4K capture. With 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage, it has an octa-core Snapdragon processor which is probably the Snapdragon 835 based on the reported Adreno 540 GPU.

The device is reported to be competing with the Samsung Galaxy View which an equally massive tablet. The connectivity on the devices suggests that Nokia would most probably be expected to lug this one around to wherever it is they plan on going.

At such an early stage of Nokia smartphone revivals, it does seem a bit odd to offer this giant gadget in all terms. But then again, odder things have been witnessed in the past.
