Angelina Jolie is faced with more than one familial issue after the birth mother of her and Brad Pitt’s adopted daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt is making a plea to the actress, asking that she be allowed to speak with her daughter.

According to the Daily Mail, Zahara’s Ethiopian Mentewab Dawit Lebiso is making a plea for her to play a part in her daughter’s life, although she does not necessarily want her back home. Rather, Mentewab prefers Jolie and not Pitt to take custody of her girl.

Mentewab already opened up to the online news outlet that she looks forward to the day when she finally meets Zahara as a grown girl, although she does not mind an interaction over the phone for the meantime.

“I just want her to know that I am alive and here and long to be able to speak with her,” Mentewab said. 

The Ethiopian native is appreciative for Jolie and Pitt's efforts over her daughter, including special privileges and opportunities, but she can’t help but miss her little girl.

“I miss her all the time. I think about her every day and long to hear her voice or see her face.I know when she has a birthday but I am sad because I can’t celebrate it with her,” Mentewab explained. 

Mentewab was tracked down in central Ethiopia by Daily Mail Online. According to her story, she got pregnant with Zahara after she was raped. When her family learned that she was conceiving, they eventually refused to acknowledge her or the baby. Although she attempted to keep her girl, Mentewab had to give her up for adoption due to poverty.

Zahara was initially named Yemasrech, which can be translated to “good news.” She was adopted by Jolie when she was merely six months old back in 2005.
