The Soprano singer who claimed she co-wrote the screenplay for the movie, Florence Foster Jenkins, is taking a legal fight against her former boyfriend, after he took the credit for the screenplay to himself. According to her, she helped her ex-boyfriend working on the movie script.

American-French classical singer, Julia Kogan is taking a legal action against her former beau, Nicholas Martin, the writer of the movie, Florence Foster Jenkins, in bid to credit her as the co-author for the film as screenplay writer, Daily Mail reported. She claimed that she had given him a hand on writing "every aspect" of the story and to come up with more ideas for the script.

Kogan also claims breach of copyright, however, Martin countered her with lawsuit filed in the British High Court, which denies Kogan's claims. He insisted that she was only a "critic". Martin's lawsuit is also seeking the judge's official declaration to leave her out from being credited.

Martin and Kogan, who was a soprano singer and a vocal instructor respectively, began their relationship in 2011 and dated for three years, Hollywood reported. "I was his (Nicholas') greatest asset. There are scenes and scenes using singing vocabulary that Nicholas simply didn't possess," Kogan claimed.

According to her, their relationship began to crumble after she insisted her part as the writer of the screenplay. Dominic Bray, his representing lawyer stated that the film producers and financiers has not commented over the issue. "Nicholas rejects her claim and the filmmakers have no reason to doubt him He himself taken legal action to end what he believes to be groundless allegations," Bray said.

The movie which was released last weekend starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant, retells Jenkins' life, a true story of a wealthy American who was wrongly convinced she was a brilliant singer. The movie was just released last week, May 6th and is also set to premiere in US theaters in August 12th.
