A masseuse in Illinois files another lawsuit against the former NBA star Rick Brunson over the alleged sexual assault, even though, the player was acquitted following the said violent incident last year.

Despite that Rick Brunson who was found not guilty on sexual assault and other charges in 2014, the masseuse filed her case to civil court, seeking over $50,000 for damages, TMZ reported. Her lawsuit cited intentional infliction of emotional distress, battery and gender violence.

Allan Millstein, Brunson's defense attorney, responded to the lawsuit. "We think the allegations are totally without merit. We proved him not guilty in criminal court and now will do so in civil", the lawyer stated. In 2014, the masseuse claimed Brunson stripped her, grope her breasts and forced her perform oral sex on him after the massage session.

Last year, the former Chicago Bull's player was acquitted from the charges, according to Chicago Tribune. A one-time Bulls player and assistant coach testified on his case on April 2014, saying the incident was a "consensual act and part of an ongoing extramarital relationship".

His defense lawyers also claimed the plaintiff needed money, and two weeks before the incident happened in Lifetime Fitness, the woman asked Brunson money. Since then the 42-year old Vernon Hills basketball player was found guilty of the charges of sexual abuse, and other charges such as attempted sexual assault, batter and domestic battery.

"It is the state's burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, and considering all the physical evidence and testimony, I must conclude that the state did not prove that guilt convincingly", Judge James Booras stated on his ruling.

His defense attorney at that time, Dennis Berkson says now that Brunson has been acquitted, he hopes to ''go out and restore his name''. Brunson played for eight NBA teams from 1997 to 2006. He's been an assistant coach for college and pro teams, including the Bulls and Charlotte Bobcats.
